Question:
Why does Air Greenland, as an airline, enter into a co-operation with a boat operator?
Answer:
Air Greenland sees great potential in cooperating with local boat operators where it makes strategic and operational sense.
For the route between Maniitsoq and Nuuk, the co-operation with Maniitsoq Tour Boats means that we can offer more departures in addition to the six weekly flights we already have. This gives our customers more choice and contributes to a more flexible and robust traffic plan.
At the same time, the boat transport serves as a backup solution in case of weather-related challenges - such as low cloud cover - where flying is not possible. This collaboration strengthens both operational stability and accessibility for the region.
Question:
How can I see that I'm buying a boat journey and not a flight when I book my trip?
Answer:
When you book your trip, it will appear as an option when you select the ticket type. In addition, you will see under the duration of the journey that the GL number in question is operated by ‘Suulut Targa 37 - M.T.B.’, which stands for Maniitsoq Tour Boats. This clearly indicates that the journey is by boat and not by plane.
Question:
What if I forget that I'm travelling by boat and not by plane - is there a risk that I will show up at the wrong place?
Answer:
An SMS is sent to the phone number provided in the booking. Therefore, it is important that the traveller's own mobile number is entered when the ticket is purchased.
The SMS reminds the traveller that the journey is by boat and also contains information on where to meet before departure. The language of the message depends on the language selected on the website when making the purchase.
However, it is always the traveller's responsibility to keep track of their travel details and ensure that they arrive at the right place. Therefore, it is recommended to review the entire itinerary well in advance of travelling.
Question:
