Good to know before you book the trip

What is a codeshare agreement?

A codeshare agreement is a collaboration between airlines where one company operates the route, but other companies can also sell tickets for the same flight under their own name and flight number. This means you can buy a ticket from one company but fly with another.

Why do airlines enter into such partnership agreements?

To offer more destinations without flying all routes themselves, thus providing customers with a greater selection of connections.

Benefits for customers:

  • More choices and better connections.
  • Easy ticket booking across companies.
  • Baggage is usually sent all the way, even when switching between companies.

Who is responsible for the traveller during the flight?

The flight operator, in this case, Airseven - CAT, is responsible for handling the traveller in connection with:

  • Delays, cancellations, and overbookings.
  • Rebooking, catering, and accommodation.
  • Baggage handling and compensation.

The company you bought the ticket from can help with:

  • Customer service and contact.
  • Changes or refunds.

Example: You buy a ticket from Air Greenland but fly with CAT – Airseven. If the flight is cancelled, CAT – Airseven must find a solution, but Air Greenland can help you with changes or refunds.

Who is responsible for my travel plan if the flight is diverted?

Airseven decides where the plane should fly if it cannot land at the destination. The captain and first officer will provide more information about this during the flight. Read the answer above about what applies in these situations.

Who handles check-in?

At Aalborg Airport, it is the operating company – in this case, CAT – Airseven, and at Nuuk Airport, it is Air Greenland.

Can I choose where I sit on the plane?

If you or the travel agency you bought the ticket from booked through Air Greenland, seats in rows 1-32, seats D, E, and F, are reserved for Air Greenland customers. You can choose a seat when booking the trip or ask the check-in staff if a certain seat is available.

How much baggage can I bring?

If you or the travel agency you bought the ticket from booked through Air Greenland, Air Greenland's baggage rules apply. The ticket includes 20 kg of checked baggage, and 8 kg of hand luggage is allowed. You will have to pay a fee per extra kilo of overweight. Read more about Air Greenland's baggage rules and how you can purchase extra baggage here: Overweight – Air Greenland.

If you bought your trip through Ruby Rejser, we refer to them regarding the options for purchasing baggage for your ticket.

Yes, if you or your travel agency booked the plane ticket as a continuous journey with Air Greenland, your baggage will be checked in to your destination. However, you may need to go to the Air Greenland counter at Nuuk Airport to get a boarding pass for the next part of the journey.

Good to know about the service on board

What service do I get on board?

Air Greenland passengers receive the same service concept as on our transatlantic routes. Catering is included in the ticket price. On the Aalborg to Nuuk route, a light breakfast is served, and on the Nuuk to Aalborg route, a light lunch is served. Two drinks (water, soda, beer, or wine) are included with the meal, as well as coffee/tea. Airseven has a selection of drinks that can also be purchased on board.

Is there cabin crew from Air Greenland on board?

No, as the aicraft is from Airseven, it is the operator's cabin crew on the flight. It cannot be expected that there are Greenlandic-speaking cabin crew on board.

Is there an entertainment system on board Airseven?

There are no TV screens on the seatbacks in the plane, but you can log your mobile or tablet onto the plane's Wi-Fi and scan a QR code that opens a varied selection of movies and TV series, as well as track the flight via a tracker. There is no internet access.

Can I charge my mobile or tablet on board the plane?

No, there is no possibility to plug in a cable to a power supply as you can on some planes. We therefore recommend that you charge your mobile/tablet before departure.

Is it possible to shop duty-free on board the plane?

There is not the same selection of goods as on other Air Greenland transatlantic routes, but Airseven has a good selection of goods. However, there is no duty-free tobacco and alcohol.

After landing in Nuuk

Where is the baggage delivered at Nuuk Airport, and how long do I have to wait?

The waiting time varies depending on how many flights are handled. If there are many planes on the apron, it can take some time before the baggage is moved from the plane to the baggage carousel and further to the delivery on the terminal's 1st floor. Therefore, there is some time to look at the selection of Greenland Airports' duty-free goods. Remember to scan your boarding pass when purchasing.

What do I do if I miss my connection to and from Nuuk due to a delayed arrival?

It is very important that you have aligned expectations before your departure to and from Greenland. When operating flights with helicopters and fixed-wing turboprop and jet aircraft over a long coastline where weather conditions play a significant role in the execution of the traffic program, it is important to know that delays can occur that affect your travel plan.

Therefore, we recommend travellers to consider this when planning to travel further with other operators, such as by train, plane, boat, bus, or other transport. We encourage you to check how you are insured when traveling. The same applies if you have booked hotel accommodation.

Notice! If you have purchased a continuous flight from A to B via C with Air Greenland, it is good to know that we ensure the traveller receives a new travel plan and take care of you throughout the journey until you reach your destination on our route network. You can read about what this entails on our help page: Air Greenland.

Have a good trip!

Did you know…

Air Greenland has nearly 65 years of experience in operating flights here and holds one of Europe's most complex operating licenses (AOC - Air Operator Certificate). It is a certificate that confirms that an airline has the right procedures, resources, and safety measures in place to conduct commercial flights.
The certificate is issued by the national aviation authority, in Air Greenland's case, the Danish Transport Authority, which continuously monitors and inspects the airline to ensure it meets all requirements.

In short, an AOC is a necessary permit that confirms that an airline has the right procedures, resources, and safety measures in place to conduct commercial flights.
