What is SeatBoost?
The SeatBoost app lets you bid on last-minute upgrades via a live auction for up to 6 travelers in the same reservation. At the end of the auction, you will be notified in the SeatBoost app if you are a winner. There are no fees for participating, and you only pay if you win the auction.
What airlines is SeatBoost available on?
SeatBoost is currently available on multiple airlines, for instance Air Greenland, with more airlines on the way.
What routes is SeatBoost available on?
Auctions for upgrades are currently available on selected Air Greenland flights. To check if your flight is eligible, select "Air Greenland" as your airline and enter your booking information into the SeatBoost App as early as 10 days before your flight's departure. If your flight is eligible, you will see an option to join an auction. Please ensure that you are checked in before the auction ends for your flight.
What does SeatBoost do?
The SeatBoost mobile app lets you bid on last-minute seat upgrades before your flight, via a live auction. Auction winners receive a seat upgrade. There are no fees for participating, and you only pay if you win the auction.
When do auctions start?
Auctions begin 10 days and end 4 hours prior to your flight's estimated departure.
Where do I find my booking code (PNR)?
Your booking code, a six-digit alphanumeric key, is usually printed on your itinerary confirmation and boarding pass. It is the same code that you used to retrieve your booking on the Air Greenland website or in the Air Greenland app, and to check in for your flight. If you cannot find it, try the boarding pass scanner instead.
What is the boarding pass scanner and what can I use it for?
When requesting to join an auction, you will find a scanner icon adjacent to the input field for your booking code. Tapping this icon opens your device's camera, provided you granted the SeatBoost App access in your device's settings. Scanning the bar- or QR-code on your paper or digital boarding pass will transfer the mandatory booking information automatically without the need for manual input. Please note that this feature works for a majority of airline boarding passes, but not all. If it doesn't, please input your booking code and name manually.
How do I join an auction?
You can download the SeatBoost app from the Apple App or Google Play Store. Enter your e-mail address, select your airline, and then enter your flight information. From there you can join an auction.
What is my Display Name?
Display Names identify each bidder in the auction and are visible to other participants. You can create a Display Name before you enter an auction and follow your Display Name on the leaderboard to see where you rank in the auction.
What is the starting bid?
The starting bid is the bid you must place in order to join a SeatBoost auction. A temporary authorization hold will be placed on your credit card upon auction entry for a fraction more than the starting bid price - for more information on the temporary authorization hold, please check “I see a hold on my bank statement. What does this mean?" in the Billing section. Bidding on an upgrade with SeatBoost starts at a special rate lower than standard upgrade prices. Please note that all bids are final and cannot be canceled or reversed. Upgrades purchased through SeatBoost are non-refundable. However, participating in a SeatBoost auction is free, and you only pay if you win!
How do I place a bid?
Upon first use of the app, you will be taken through a Bidding Tutorial, which can be accessed again once you are in the auction - just tap the “?” icon in the bottom right corner. You can swipe the paddle up and choose from three different amounts to add to your bid. Tapping the golden colored paddle will always take you to the top of the leaderboard. You can follow your Display Name on the leaderboard to see where you rank in the auction. You can place as many bids as you would like until time runs out.
What is the Final Round?
Once the timer runs out in the initial round, the final round begins and lasts for two minutes. Only the Top 10 bidders make it through to the final round. From there, you have the opportunity to add one last bid of your choosing. A calculator function in the app displays what your total bid will be. Please note, availability can change up until the last minute. Good luck!
I am flying together with other travelers in the same booking. What are my options?
After selecting an auction, you can choose which travelers on your reservation you would like to bid for. You can decide to bid for up to 6 travelers together or pick the travelers and split. If you are traveling with a child, however, you must bid for all travelers in that booking. Please note that when you bid for more than one, bid amounts will be <b>per</b> traveler. This includes the starting bid, and any bids you place during the auction. Your total bid for all travelers is transparently displayed beneath the leaderboard to help you keep track during the auction. Please also note that even though we will do our best, adjacent seating for multiple travelers cannot be guaranteed.
Which forms of payment can I use to purchase an upgrade?
You can use any credit card. You may also use debit cards unless they only allow giro or cash transactions. In addition, SeatBoost supports Apple and Google Pay which allows you to use any form of payment you have set up in your mobile device's wallet.
How are auction winners determined?
Upgrades are awarded based on availability and total amount bid. It may occur that even if you are the only participant in an auction, by the time it ends there is no upgrade availability. While we strive to upgrade as many bidders as we can, availability can depend on a number of factors. An open seat on the airplane does not guarantee that seat is available for purchase through SeatBoost. For those reasons, availability through our auctions is not guaranteed.
Can I cancel my bid?
In order to ensure that the auction works fairly for all participants, unfortunately, we cannot cancel or reverse bids once they are submitted into a live auction. Additionally, upgrades won through SeatBoost are non-refundable. This is included in our Auction Terms that must be agreed to before you can join the auction. If you change your flight, or your flight is cancelled while participating in one of our auctions, you won’t be able to win (or be charged). Plus, if your new flight is eligible, you can go ahead and join a SeatBoost auction for that flight. If you upgrade through a different method, while participating in a SeatBoost auction, our system will be notified and you will not be able to win (nor will you be charged). In both these cases the temporary authorization hold placed upon joining the auction, will be automatically voided.
Will I be charged if I don’t win my auction?
No, and there are no fees for participating. The temporary authorization hold that is placed on your card when you join an auction, is voided automatically if you do not win. Please note that even though the hold is released immediately, each bank has their own policy and it can take a few days for it to disappear from your bank statement. You will only be charged if you win the auction.
If I win an upgrade will I be refunded for any fees I already paid?
As stipulated by the auction terms and conditions which must be agreed to prior to joining an auction, any fees already paid to Air Greenland remain non-refundable (e.g. for baggage and seat reservations).
Which benefits are included with my upgrade?
You will get 10kg extra baggage, Fast Track, lounge access and inflight service - just like in the Premium package.
I ordered a special meal for my flight. Can I use SeatBoost to upgrade?
If you booked a special meal, you can still join an auction for an upgrade. Due to the short notice, the meal cannot be upgraded to reflect the standard of the cabin for which you won the upgrade. The cabin crew will serve the ordered meal for your originally booked cabin.
Can I earn or use loyalty program miles or points for my upgrade?
An upgrade does not entitle to a higher status or award credit. Unfortunately, you cannot yet bid for an upgrade with SeatBoost using miles or points.
Will my travel partner and I receive seats next to each other if we win an upgrade?
If you and your travel partner are in the same reservation, upgrades will be granted only if adjacent seats are available in the higher cabin.
I was unable to join an auction. Why?
SeatBoost is available on eligible flights beginning 10 days. SeatBoost is not available before this time. Additionally, some bookings may be ineligible for a particular SeatBoost auction due to airline restrictions such as special seating needs, a reservation that includes an infant, group fares or airline policies.
I already submitted an offer for an upgrade. Can I still bid with SeatBoost?
Yes you can. If the offer that you submit gets accepted, then you will not win the auction with SeatBoost.
However, if the offer that you submit is not accepted, bidding with SeatBoost will give you another opportunity to get upgraded.
How is this different from the opportunity to submit an offer for an upgrade more than 24 hours before your flight?
Our SeatBoost auctions begin 24 hours before departure and end roughly 60 minutes before departure, when some of the best deals on a seat upgrade are offered, if any upgrades are available. The auction occurs live and in real-time through the SeatBoost mobile app. You can see where you stand during the auction and decide how much to bid.
My ticket says ineligible. What does that mean?
Some tickets may be ineligible for a particular SeatBoost auction due to restrictions based on special seating needs, seat availability, ticket type, groups, and other airline policies. This is required in order to comply with the law and to ensure that there is appropriate seating for all fliers.
I joined an auction but then changed my flight before the end of the auction. What happens to my bid?
Don’t worry, you won’t be able to win an auction (or be charged) for a flight you are no longer on. Plus, if your new flight is eligible, you can go ahead and join a SeatBoost auction for that flight.
The aircraft operating my flight was changed at short notice. What happens to my bid?
Your bid remains valid. The auction is not effected by an aircraft change as long as upgrade cabins are also available on the new aircraft. In case an upgrade cabin is no longer available, the auction is automatically terminated and your bid voided.
I won an upgrade, but my flight was canceled or rebooked, or I missed my flight due to a delay on my connecting flight. How do I get a refund?
Please fill out a claim by visiting https://seatboost.com/contact/
Once your case has been reviewed and approved SeatBoost will issue a refund to the form of payment used to pay for the upgrade.
I won an upgrade but my flight was delayed. What do I do?
If you won an upgrade and your flight is delayed, you will keep your upgrade. If you need other assistance or want to get in touch with Air Greenland, please visis this page.
I won an upgrade, but was unable to claim my upgrade, e.g. due to a damaged seat. How do I get a refund?
Please fill out a claim by visiting https://seatboost.com/contact/
Once your case has been reviewed and approved SeatBoost will issue a refund to the form of payment used to pay for the upgrade.
When will my form of payment be charged?
By entering a SeatBoost auction, you are placing a starting bid specific to your auction. All bids are final, however you will not be charged unless you win an upgrade. A temporary authorization hold will be placed on your credit card upon auction entry for a fraction more than the starting bid price, to facilitate successful payment at the close of the auction. This hold is not a charge and no funds are captured; this is similar to the process you may be familiar with at a hotel or car rental agency. If you win, this authorization hold will be converted to a charge for the amount of your final bid. If necessary, there will be a second charge if your final bid exceeds the original authorization. If you do not win, no charge will be incurred and the original authorization hold is voided immediately on our end. Please note that even though the hold is released immediately, each bank has their own policy and it can take a few days for it to disappear from your bank statement.

How do I request a receipt?
You will automatically receive a receipt for your upgrade from SeatBoost after the auction. It will be delivered to the e-mail address you used when signing up within the SeatBoost App.

On the payment screen prior to joining the auction, we display the currency you will be charged in, typically based on your location.
I forgot my PIN used to save my credit card in the SeatBoost app. How do I reset it?
For security reasons, your PIN is never stored. If you forget your PIN, SeatBoost will automatically delete any stored credit card information after FIVE (5) failed attempts. To continue, you will need to re-enter a valid credit card.
Is it possible to update my credit card details after joining an auction?
Unfortunately it is not possible to change the credit card used during an auction. However, you can choose or enter a new card for a future auction.
