If you are a wheelchair user, you can take your wheelchair with you free of charge.
Contact us in good of time before your departure and specify the weight and dimensions of the wheelchair. The wheelchair must be checked in along with your other baggage. It must be packed so that it does not cause any damage to other items in the hold or suffer any damage itself.
Air Greenland assumes no liability for any damage to the wheelchair if it is not suitably packed. If you need to borrow a wheelchair at the airport, you can pre-book one.
Rules for accepting wheelchairs as baggage
A wheelchair that the passenger is dependent on can be taken freely as baggage and checked in
together with the passenger's other luggage.
ATTENTION!
The passenger can bring their fully collapsible wheelchair all the way to the gate, from where it
loaded into the aircraft. This does not apply to electric/battery powered wheelchairs or wheelchairs that do not
are collapsible.
Accepted batteries
- Dry batteries
- Gel batteries
- Wet batteries - always sent separately as freight (Dangerous Goods)
Wheelchairs must generally be packaged/secured in such a way that they can withstand transport and
general baggage handling when loading/unloading.
The following rules apply to self-propelled electric/battery-powered wheelchairs:
- The batteries must be placed in a vertical position
- The batteries must be securely attached to the chair using non-conductive material
- Wires are removed from the battery
- Battery terminals must be covered with non-conductive material (tape or plastic covers, such as
the customer himself brings)
- The wheelchair must be loaded in an upright position in the hold
If this cannot be observed, the batteries are removed and submitted for shipment as Dangerous
Goods freight.
Wheelchairs and other battery-powered aids with Lithium batteries are not accepted.
