On this page, you'll find everything you need to know about check-in, valid identification, and the most important deadlines before your departure.
When Can I Check In?
Online Check-in:
- Online check-in opens 22 hours before departure for all Air Greenland flights.
- You can check in through Club Timmisa or via Web Check-in.
- Enter your last name and your booking reference or e-ticket number.
- Your boarding pass will be sent directly to your mobile device or email.
- Please remember that any checked baggage must be dropped off no later than 1 hour before departure.
Airport Check-in:
- Check-in counters in Greenland open approximately 2 hours before the first flight of the day.
- Please arrive in good time, as check-in closes 1 hour before departure.
If you are departing from Nuuk, we recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours before departure, as there may be queues at check-in and security screening.
If you are departing from Denmark, we recommend arriving at the airport 2–3 hours before departure, as there may be queues at check-in and security screening.
Tip: Save time by using the self-service check-in kiosks and dropping off your checked baggage at the baggage drop.
When Does Check-in Close?:
Check-in closes 1 hour before departure.
This means you must have completed check-in and dropped off any checked baggage before check-in closes.
Late Check-in:
It is your responsibility as a passenger to arrive at check-in on time.
If you have not checked in at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure, you may be refused check-in.
In this case, your ticket becomes invalid and cannot be transferred to another departure. The ticket is non-refundable, although applicable taxes and fees may be refunded.
When Do I Need to Be at the Gate?
You must be at the airport no later than 30 minutes before departure.
Please note that for departures from Nuuk, you must have completed security screening 45 minutes before departure.
Valid Identification
Residents of Greenland:
The following forms of identification are accepted:
- Passport
- Driver's licence
- CPR registration certificate
- Baptismal certificate
- Certificate of residence
- Seafarer's identity book
- Birth certificate
You can print your certificate of residence online through the Sullissivik citizen service portal.
Residents of Denmark:
The following forms of identification are accepted:
- Passport
- Driver's licence
Other Travellers:
The following forms of identification are accepted:
- Passport
- Driver's licence (Nordic citizens only)
- Travel document for refugees or stateless persons
Visa Requirements:
Citizens of the Nordic countries are free to travel to, live in, and work in Greenland.
Please note that a visa issued for Denmark does not grant entry to Greenland.
Children:
Children must have their own identification from birth. The following documents are accepted:
- Passport
- Baptismal certificate
- Certificate of residence
- Health insurance card
Travelling Onward from Copenhagen:
If you are continuing your journey to another Nordic country, you do not need a passport.
Interline Agreements:
Air Greenland currently has no active interline agreements with other airlines.
As a result, checked baggage cannot currently be checked through beyond Copenhagen Airport. You will need to collect your baggage in Copenhagen and check it in again with your onward airline.
