Air Greenland offers an Unaccompanied Minor Service (UMNR) for children travelling alone.
This service ensures that your child receives additional attention and assistance from our staff throughout their journey.
Who is the service for?
- The Unaccompanied Minor Service is mandatory for children aged 5–12 years travelling alone.
- For children aged 12–15 years, the service is optional but recommended.
- If the service is not booked, the child can only travel if accompanied by a person who is at least 16 years old.
Booking:
Bookings for unaccompanied minors and the Unaccompanied Minor Service must be made by contacting the Air Greenland Call Centre via Contact Us or through a travel agency.
In addition to the ticket price, a service fee of DKK250 per travel date will be charged.
When booking, please provide:
Departure: Name, address, and telephone number of the person delivering the child at the departure airport.
Arrival: Name, address, and telephone number of the person collecting the child at the destination airport.
Transit: If the child is changing aircraft during the journey, contact details for the responsible person at the transit location must also be provided.
You can submit this information by completing the "Declaration for unaccompanied children" form and sending it to the Air Greenland Call Centre via Contact Us.
On the day of travel
- We recommend arriving at check-in 2 hours before departure.
- The person accompanying the child to the airport must assist with check-in and remain at the airport until the aircraft has departed.
- Our staff or airport partners will escort the child through security screening and all the way to the aircraft.
- Once on board, the cabin crew will take responsibility for the child during the flight.
Upon arrival
- Our staff or airport partners will meet the child upon arrival and ensure a safe handover to the person named in the Declaration for Unaccompanied Minor form. Identification will be required.
- If no one arrives to collect the child, our staff will attempt to contact the designated guardian. If contact cannot be established, the departure station will be contacted to determine the appropriate course of action.
Additional information
- For safety reasons, only a limited number of unaccompanied minors can be accepted on each flight. We therefore recommend booking well in advance.
- Young travellers aged 15–18 years who are not accustomed to travelling alone may also receive assistance through a separate service. Please contact the Air Greenland Call Centre via Contact Us or your travel agency for more information.
- Remember to download and complete the "Declaration for unaccompanied children" form.
We look forward to welcoming you on board.
Important information for helicopter routes
Unfortunately, it is not possible for a child to travel unaccompanied on a helicopter service.
As there are no staff on board available to assist children during the journey, the child must travel with an adult.
To issue a child's ticket, the child's booking must be linked to an adult booking. Therefore, we require the adult's booking reference before we can create a helicopter ticket for the child.
