Air Greenland has more than 50 years’ experience of flying to and from one of the world’s harshest environments. And we never compromise on safety. Our aircraft are constructed such that they can withstand even the most extreme conditions and our personnel are trained to do the same.
Worried about flying?
If you’re feeling uncomfortable or have a fear of flying, then let our personnel know at the check-in desk or whilst en route. You can also ask your travel agency to note this in your documents or Air Greenlands Customer Service via Contact us if you’re booking online.
At the same time, we recommend that you choose an ‘aisle’ seat where you have a bit more space. If we know how you feel, then it’s easier for us to make your journey as comfortable as possible.
You’re not alone
Approximately one third of passengers feel some sort of anxiety about flying. You’re therefore not alone. We advise you to prepare for your journey such that you aren’t physically or mentally stressed.
Arrive at the airport in plenty of time, get a good look at your fellow passengers and let their eager anticipation help to ease any worries you may have.
When in route you may sometimes hear noises that you haven’t previously heard. These noises are the result of the pilot trimming the flaps or rudder or the landing gear being lowered or retracted.
You can safely assume that these noises are a guarantee that everything’s as it should be. Go to your library to learn about technical functions and flying.
Relaxed breathing is important
Turbulence and vibrations can occur in the air all over the world. Breathe deeply through your nose and all the way down into your stomach.
Slowly exhale, repeat and repeat once again. It’s the best way to control your anxiety. Some people prefer to take a sedative prescribed by their doctor.
Alcohol doesn’t help ease any fear of flying; in fact, it can make it worse, and we strongly recommend that you don't drink alcohol on your journey.
Lean back and relax. Tighten your safety belt and look forward to a safe flight with the most fantastic views in the world.
