Fear of flying

At Air Greenland, we have more than 60 years of experience flying to and from one of the world's most challenging environments. Your safety is always our highest priority. We never compromise on safety. Our aircraft are designed to operate in demanding conditions, and our experienced staff are trained to look after you every step of the way.

Tell us – we're here to help

Please let us know if you feel anxious about flying. When we understand how you're feeling, we can provide the support you need and help make your journey as comfortable as possible.

And remember, you're not alone. Around one in three people experience some level of anxiety when flying.

Who should you contact?

If you have a fear of flying and would like it noted on your booking, please contact the place where you purchased your ticket. There is no additional charge for this service.

We recommend contacting us well in advance of your departure, or no later than 48 hours before your flight.

  • Air Greenland: If you purchased your ticket directly through Air Greenland's booking portal, please contact the Air Greenland Call Centre via Contact Us or by calling +299 70 12 12.
  • Travel agency: If you purchased your ticket through a travel agency, please contact them directly.
  • Air Greenland app: You can also register your fear of flying in the Air Greenland app.
Open the app, go to Profile & Settings, select Edit Profile, scroll down to Other Details & Preferences, and enable the Fear of Flying option.

Check-in:

  • Arrive at the airport in plenty of time so you can begin your journey at a relaxed pace without rushing through check-in or security.
  • If you have a preferred seat, such as an aisle seat where you may feel more comfortable, please ask our check-in staff. If you're travelling on one of our Atlantic routes, you can also choose your seat in advance.

During your flight:

  • Remember that your safety is our highest priority. Our experienced cabin crew regularly assist passengers who are anxious about flying. They will pay extra attention to your needs and support you throughout the flight to make your journey as comfortable as possible.
  • Please don't hesitate to let the cabin crew know if you feel uncomfortable at any point during the flight.

Helpful tips:

  • Breathe slowly and deeply through your nose, allowing your breath to reach your abdomen, then exhale gently. Repeat several times to help your body relax.
  • Bring a good book, watch a film, listen to music you enjoy, or choose another activity that helps you feel calm.
  • If you notice unfamiliar sensations, such as sounds from the aircraft's systems, changes in cabin pressure, or the feeling of flying at high altitude, remember that these are all completely normal.
  • In the Newspapers & Magazines section of the Air Greenland app, you can also listen to the podcast series "Ease Your Fear of Flying."

We hope you have found the information you were looking for. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to welcoming you on board.
