At Air Greenland, your safety and comfort are always our highest priority.
For most passengers, flying at an altitude of 10 kilometres and a speed of 900 km/h is harmless.
However, for some passengers – for example, pregnant travellers, people with chronic illnesses or those who have recently undergone surgery – there may be special precautions to consider.
We always recommend that travellers with specific health concerns consult their doctor. At the same time, please follow the general guidelines below to make your journey as safe and comfortable as possible.
Chronic illness
If you have heart or respiratory problems, the pressure conditions in the cabin may cause discomfort.
As a general rule: if you can walk up and down a flight of stairs to the first floor without difficulty, you will normally also be able to complete a flight. However, we always recommend that you consult your doctor so that you can travel with peace of mind.
Recently undergone surgery?
If you have recently undergone surgery, we recommend that you contact your doctor to find out whether you are fit to fly and whether there are any precautions you should take.
Communicable diseases
If you have any of the following illnesses, you must not fly while you are contagious:
- Measles
- Rubella
- Chickenpox
If you have whooping cough or mumps, you must not fly while you have the illness.
In general, you must not fly while suffering from more serious contagious diseases.
Medication and oxygen
Bring all necessary medication for the entire flight in your hand luggage so that you have it readily available.
If you require oxygen during the flight or wish to bring your own oxygen cylinder, please contact us well in advance of your journey.

Alcohol and intoxicating substances
The pressure in the cabin may cause your body to react differently to alcohol than you are used to.
For safety reasons and out of consideration for other passengers, Air Greenland may refuse to allow intoxicated passengers to board at the gate. Air Greenland may also refuse to serve alcohol during the flight.
Passengers who are clearly intoxicated will not be permitted to board Air Greenland flights. Due to their condition, they may pose a safety risk during the flight and may cause discomfort or disturbance to other passengers on board.
Any subsequent costs (e.g. accommodation and meals) will be at the passenger’s own expense.
Passengers denied boarding
Any subsequent costs (e.g. accommodation and meals) will be at the passenger’s own expense. Passengers who are denied boarding will lose their booking and must purchase a new ticket themselves.
Intoxicated passengers who are denied boarding and display threatening or violent behaviour will be reported to the police immediately. This also applies to passengers who are under the influence of narcotics or other intoxicating substances.
