Traffic deviations within aviation are triggered by many different factors, both from outside and internally in Air Greenland.
If a departure is canceled, passengers will be rebooked for the first possible departure to the same destination.
Air Greenland generally covers the following costs for passengers affected by traffic deviations:
Catering in reasonable proportion to the waiting time
Accommodation - sailors' homes, hotels, etc.
Surface transport, where this is a useful alternative to a lost connection with aircraft.
In the event of conflict situations, strikes, natural disasters and similar situations beyond Air Greenland's control, Air Greenland will not initially pay for any costs, but will be borne by the passenger himself.
In case of delays / cancellations, Air Greenland pays both accommodation / breakfast, lunch and dinner, see further down in the text.
If a flight is canceled or delayed for more than 5 hours, the customer has the right to a refund of the purchase price for the reservation and thus cancel the trip, or to have the trip rebooked. As a rule, Air Greenland will always make sure to rebook all affected passengers to the next possible departure.
Meal voucher
If a flight is canceled or delayed for more than 4 hours, Air Greenland offers a meal voucher to each passenger.
Meal vouchers must be considered as subsidy to cover extra costs, for meals to each passenger.
Please contact the staff at the airport or heliport to receive the meal voucher.
Please note, if you are a resident of the city you are canceled from, you will not receive a meal voucher for meals.
Lay over in a city
If a flight is canceled, Air Greenland offers accommodation or transport to and from the place of residence.
Accommodation is provided to passengers who do not reside in the city in question or within a reasonable driving distance of the airport or heliport. Accommodation is at a hotel, sailor's home, or whatever other options are available in that city.
Passengers with planned accommodation according to the original itinerary pay the number of overnight stays according to the itinerary in case of traffic deviations.
The staff at the airport or heliport will provide the booking for a hotel or accommodation is case you delay involves an overnight stay, and they will contact every passenger by telephone when they are finished booking the accommodations.
If you haven't received a call within 4 hours after the delay, please contact the airport or heliport directly.
You can call 343434 and enter 3, then you will be directed to the traffic office.
Lost connection
If the traffic deviation causes passengers to lose further connection with another
carrier or with surface transport, the following guidelines apply:
Air Greenland only covers expenses for accommodation, possibly. catering and surface transport, where it is a coherent journey with an Air Greenland ticket.
Air Greenland covers accommodation costs for passengers when a district flight between town and village
is canceled or delayed and the customer does not have private accommodation.
In addition, Air Greenland bears the passenger accommodation cost when there are irregularities in
the district flight, where the passenger has a flight reservation the same day on Air Greenland's commercial
the route network and where the irregularity leads to delayed arrival and cancellation / rescheduling of travel on the commercial route network.
Air Greenland does not cover passenger accommodation costs in the settlements.
Apart from the accommodation costs as mentioned above, no other compensation is provided in the event of delay or cancellation.
Passengers with separate reservations for onward travel with other airlines or other means of transport will not be reimbursed for such costs
