Flights with Air Greenland will usually be subject to the provisions of Air Greenland’s standard terms and conditions, national law, Greenlandic legislation and agreements with the Government of Greenland.
Furthermore, specific flights are also subject to EU regulations, among others, the European Parliament and Council’s Regulation of 2004-02-11 concerning common rules on compensation and assistance to air passengers in the event of denied boarding, cancellations or long delays, and on the repeal of Regulation (EEC) No. 295/91 (Regulation 261/2004)
Air Greenland will always do the best to ensure that your departure is on time.
If there are cancellations or delays for your journey out of an EU country, Air Greenland can compensate you in accordance with EU Regulation 261/2004.
Air Greenland draws attention to the fact that we are a Greenlandic airline, and are thus not an airline in the EU.
Therefore, the EU compensation rules will not apply for departures out of Greenland towards an EU country, nor to departures within Greenland.
You may be entitled to compensation, depending on the cause of the delay and if the delay is not due to unusual circumstances which could not have been avoided, even if Air Greenland took all reasonable precautions to avoid the delay.
It is also a requirement that the delay results in the passenger arriving at their final destination, more than 3 hours after the original planned arrival time.
If your delay or cancellation is due to circumstances over which Air Greenland has no control, you will not be entitled any compensation.
These include, but are not limited to:
• Weather conditions
• Strikes that affect operations
• Political instability
• Decisions made by Air Traffic Control
Air Greenland is only responsible for flights made on an Air Greenland ticket.
If you have an onward connection with another airline, you must contact the other airline directly to make changes to your onward journey.
The same applies to all other forms of transport that are not provided in an Air Greenland ticket.
If you are delayed by more than 5 hours, you are entitled to a refund of the purchase price of the ticket. If you wish to have the ticket price refunded, the journey will be cancelled and thus cannot be completed.
Air Greenland is not obliged to provide the above assistance when the ticket is refunded, and any compensation will not be paid out.
